The Arabi Facts Hub resumed its series of training programs at Egyptian universities by organizing an intensive training day for students of the Faculty of Media Production at Galala University in Suez Governorate. This initiative is part of its ongoing program to enhance the skills of Egyptian and Arab university students in digital fact-checking, narrative journalism, and data journalism.
The training was attended by approximately 25 students and several faculty members from the Faculty of Media Production at Galala University. It spanned a full day, comprising three consecutive sessions, each lasting an hour and a half. The training methods varied, including presentations, practical applications, and open discussions.
Details of the training sessions are as follows:
First Session: Digital Storytelling and Story-Building Techniques
Presented by writer and investigative journalism trainer Yasser Al-Zayat, this session covered the key elements of crafting a cohesive and engaging journalistic story, with a focus on narrative techniques for digital platforms.
Second Session: Basics and Tools for Verifying AI-Generated Information
Delivered by investigative journalist and fact-checker Mohamed Abu Deif, this session focused on handling fake and misleading content, particularly content generated by AI tools.
Third Session: Essential Toolkit for Data Journalists
Presented by data journalist and fact-checker Maha Salah El-Din, this session highlighted the concepts of data journalism, the stages of producing data-driven stories, and a review of free, accessible digital tools for media students and journalists.
This training is an extension of the program launched by the Arabi Facts Hub last April at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Alexandria. It aligns with a broader vision to bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical application in media faculties, providing professional training to prepare students for the demands of the modern journalism job market.
The Arabi Facts Hub continues to offer specialized university training in collaboration with several Egyptian and Arab universities, contributing to the development of a new generation of journalists proficient in fact-checking tools, digital awareness, and the ability to produce professional content in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
